With 2 showings on the house today, the fam hit the town (St Paul).

Our passes to the Children’s Museum are worth every penny. The kids have a great time and the place is bathed in great light for pics. I decided to rock the 50mm f1.8, which for my camera, is manual focus. I kept missing the sharp eyes I was working for but the boys we’re extra cute which made up for my lack of focus… ha, no pun intended.

I kept the aperture at 1.8 because any ISO above 400 makes the bokeh grainy, which makes me sad. Even 400 can get a little grainy for my taste. I like me some smooth, buttery bokeh.

We had a really nice dinner with some friends of ours and they gave the 7mo a cool gift of stacking rings. This of course drew all the other kids to it like flies to… well… you know. I was trying to get all 4 kids in the pic but these kids today can move fast.

I just like this one because the 7mo seems very triumphant with how he’s holding the ring and the other kids look as if they are trembling in fear. Really they’re just squirming and saying “MINE!”

All the wife and I can do is laugh about this now. I have been looking for new shoes for over a year. I can’t seem to make up my mind. I look at a bunch, asked a lot of people for suggestions, and tried on more than I care to admit. Honestly, I’ve no idea why it’s taken me so long. I think if I’m going to settle I don’t want to pay more than 30 bucks. But if I’m going to shell out a lot of cash, then I want to love the shoes… which I’m pretty sure I will never love shoes in general… see my problem?!?!

So I think I’ll just grab another pair of Keens, the mullet of shoes, (multi-purpose – business in front; party in the back) and wait until the right shoes find me. Preferably at a goodwill for 8 dollars.

There are many things I love about the Wild Rumpus. The neighborhood it’s located in (Linden Hills), the free roaming chicken, the scarry book section with a rat in the floor, Spike the lizard, tons of places to sit and curl up with your kiddo and read the 5 billion books they pull from the shelf, and the kid door entrance.

But my favorite detail has to be the ceiling. I could sit and stare at it for hours. It’s as if the boring reality of a bookstore has been ripped open and the creativity and imagination of the written word has bursted the seams of the physical place itself … and I’m not even that much of a reader these days. We shall return and so should you.
